Every fellow's year follows the same backbone, with the project shaped to their clinical context and Trust priorities. Below is a typical journey through the cohort year.
- Month 1
Onboarding & immersion
Trust induction, executive sponsor pairing, problem framing, paediatric ecosystem tour.
- Month 2
Discovery sprint
Stakeholder interviews, family co-design clinics, baseline data extraction with the Innovation team.
- Month 3
Innovation Lab Intensive
Three-day in-person intensive: design thinking, regulation primer, paediatric health economics.
- Month 4
Concept lock
Pitch to executive sponsor and Innovation board. Project brief, success measures and budget signed off.
- Month 5
Industry & academic partner brokering
Curated partner days; technical, academic and charity partners matched to project.
- Month 6
Build / pilot kickoff
Pilot site identified, IG and DTAC pathway started, first build sprint with delivery support.
- Month 7
Mid-fellowship review
Cohort retreat, project deep-dive, mentor 360, refresh of next 6-month roadmap.
- Month 8
Pilot in service
Live pilot on ward or clinic. Weekly clinical safety huddles. Family feedback loop.
- Month 9
Evaluation
Quantitative and qualitative evaluation against pre-registered outcomes.
- Month 10
Adoption planning
Business case, scale pathway across Trust and ICS, sustainability plan.
- Month 11
Showcase & boardroom
Present to Trust board, regional partners and national paediatric innovation network.
- Month 12
Alumni transition
Alumni faculty induction, coaching plan for next 12 months, optional Year 2 scale grant.
