The Paediatric Innovation Fellowship (PIF) is a structured, year-long programme designed to be eligible for CPD against your professional registration. It is hosted by Alder Hey Children's Hospital, sponsor-backed, and built to scale as a national platform for paediatric innovation. The fellowship is open to any clinician with a current professional registration, doctors, nurses, AHPs, pharmacists, dentists, psychologists and beyond, working with or for children and young people, who wants to lead service change, digital adoption and clinical innovation inside the NHS.

Every module, mentor and case is rooted in children's healthcare. Consent, families, safeguarding and life-course outcomes sit at the centre, not the edge.
Inside the system
Fellows lead a sponsored project from the host Trust's innovation portfolio. Success is adoption inside the NHS, not equity or exit.
Eligible for CPD
The year is structured so every taught module, mentorship hour and reflective log can be evidenced against your regulator's CPD framework.
Hosted, not owned
Hosted by a children's NHS Trust, sponsor-backed, and open nationally so that the model can scale beyond any one host.
The NHS innovation pipeline is missing a paediatric track.
Most national innovation programmes are designed by, and for, adult-services clinicians. Their assumptions about consent, data, safety, behaviour change and comorbidities break down in paediatric settings.
Children's health innovation is also higher-stakes and longer-horizon. A pathway change in paediatrics affects an entire life-course. The fellowship is built to take that seriously: long enough to ship something real, structured enough to be NHS-credible.
